Danzanravjaa Tour 2006
TRAVEL TO THE BIRTHPLACE OF ONE OF MONGOLIA'S MOST ENLIGHTENED CULTURAL
FIGURES. . .
In
commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the passing of Noyon Khutagt Danzanravjaa,
the local tour operator Gobi Sunrise and the Canadian-based Mandal
Tours have developed a series of new travel itineraries highlighting the
cultural heritage of this great enlightened figure and of the area in which
he lived.
The creation of these new itineraries is one of the outcomes of a project implemented by the Museum, Training and Research Centre of Dornogobi, with partial funding from the Arts Council of Mongolia, to develop cultural tourism resources in the East Gobi.
A
standard two-day travel itinerary is being offered as part of the package
tours provided by a number of Mongolia 's largest tour operators. Visitors
will spend one day visiting Khamar Monastery and nearby sites, and a second
day visiting a nomadic camel-breeding family.
Mandal Tours is taking bookings for a small number of exclusive Study Tours, in which visitors will have the unique opportunity to meet and interact with local monks, artists, museum curators and other experts. Each tour will take visitors to both the Gobi and Central Mongolia, and will focus on one of three distinct themes—Nomadic Civilizations, Sacred Sites and Traditions, and Looking Forwards, Looking Back (Mongolia in Transition). Each tour will involve up to five days in Dornogobi, including visits to sites such as Khamar Monastery, Sharil Mountain, Burdene Bulag, Nartyn Khad, and the sacred springs of Dalan Turuu. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet with monks from Khamar Monastery, curators of the Danzanravjaa Museum, and local artists and herders. Details can be found at mandaltours.com or by contacting us by this e-mail form.
Gobi Sunrise also provides several custom itinerary options for independent groups; details can be obtained here.
